Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Symbaloo? Do I have to use it?

Symbaloo is a site which collects in one place all of the sites your child is currently likely to use for distance learning. One click takes you straight to the desired educational site. You don’t have to use it, but it simplifies things, especially for a site like Renaissance Learning, because the Symbaloo tile takes you straight to the NUSD portal, which a Google search does not.

Why can’t I get into my Renaissance Learning (AR quizzes) account?

Most likely you are not at the NUSD portal. Our specific site address includes the number 371281. The best way to get there is by clicking on the Symbaloo tile.

What are teachers’ office hours?

Although in general teachers will be available during normal school hours to answer questions, etc., during “office hours” teachers will be sitting in front of their computers. Thus the expected response time is more rapid, (unless by chance they are dealing with other students/parents at that time).

Why can’t I find my child’s weekly Think Central test?

Probably the test has not been uploaded yet. Tests will be uploaded by Thursday of each week to encourage children to read the selection 2 or 3 times.

What is Epic! books?

Epic! is a free site where your child can read short and long books, many of them popular ones. It is free to use and just requires the class code provided by your child’s teacher. Many of the books will have quizzes on AR so your child can work toward their reading goal.
