Vista Colorado Elementary

Vista Update:     Weekly food pick up is every Tuesday for the rest of the quarter at the Needles High School Parking Lot from 11:00-1:00pm.        Weekly assignments will be posted on Vista’s website, vces.needlesusd.org        Computers and WiFi Hotspots are available for pick up or technical service for computer problems on Tuesdays from 1:00-3:00pm and Thursdays from 10:00-12:00pm.              For the remainder of the quarter you may drop off completed assignments in the appropriate box at the district office back door from 8:00-1:00pm.  Check the Vista Website and DoJo for remaining assignments.    Students may keep workbooks and complete pages as assigned and hand in workbooks by May 20, 2020.              Stay well and miss you.

Vista Staff is Excited to Showcase Student Work!

Vista Community members are invited to share in Vista students’ progress and achievements at our Student Showcase on Thursday, August 29th from 5:00-6:00pm. Teachers will be explaining academic expectations for all students, reviewing K-3 standards based report cards and students can explain classroom procedures. September calendars, swim schedules and permission slips will be available.

Vista Restrooms Get Inspired

Thanks to the hard work of Gabriel Belt and a few Vista community members our bathroom stall doors are very inspirational. Gabriel came in early in the morning over his summer break and painted inspirational quotes in both bathrooms. Students love reading the quotes and have been careful to keep them looking BEAUTIFUL!

Vista Celebrates Arbor Day with Five New Trees

Vista celebrated Arbor Day with Five new trees! Thanks to PG& E, Star Nursery and Vista Leadership we planted five trees on our playground. Students decorated rocks to "plant" with our new trees, created a thank you banner and read an Arbor Day poem. Students and staff can now enjoy a shady area on our field.

SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL

Vista students learned bike and pedestrian safety in our community presented by the Safe Routes to School program. Kindergarten students practiced on an obstacle course on how to stay safe by paying attention to traffic around us and our surroundings.

Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week was designed to create an awareness concerning the problems related to the use of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs. Red Ribbon week started in 1985 as a means of honoring DEA agent Enriquie Camarena, who lost his life in the line of duty. Today, Red Ribbon Week is a time for school and communities across the nation to come together in the fight against drugs. At Vista we will be doing activities that focus on the many aspects of Health and Safety. We would like to have parents from each class bring in red items (about 25) one day during the week to remind their class of the importance of staying healthy and safe through a drug free life. The red items can be anything from apples to pencils. Examples: Red licorice, erasers, apple slices, fruit roll ups, pencils, ribbons, fruit snacks, popsicles, red juice boxes…

Thank You Parents for attending Vista’s Student Showcase

Vista Student Showcase night was a success, over 200 parents and students attended this parent night to view their child's projects and progress. Girl and Boy scout representatives were on hand for sign-ups and Dance Trax was available for information. Thank you to all for the support of our neighborhood school.
