Vista Celebrates Arbor Day with Five New Trees

Vista celebrated Arbor Day with Five new trees! Thanks to PG& E, Star Nursery and Vista Leadership we planted five trees on our playground. Students decorated rocks to "plant" with our new trees, created a thank you banner and read an Arbor Day poem. Students and staff can now enjoy a shady area on our field.

Vista students learned bike and pedestrian safety in our community presented by the Safe Routes to School program. Kindergarten students practiced on an obstacle course on how to stay safe by paying attention to traffic around us and our surroundings.

Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week was designed to create an awareness concerning the problems related to the use of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs. Red Ribbon week started in 1985 as a means of honoring DEA agent Enriquie Camarena, who lost his life in the line of duty. Today, Red Ribbon Week is a time for school and communities across the nation to come together in the fight against drugs. At Vista we will be doing activities that focus on the many aspects of Health and Safety. We would like to have parents from each class bring in red items (about 25) one day during the week to remind their class of the importance of staying healthy and safe through a drug free life. The red items can be anything from apples to pencils. Examples: Red licorice, erasers, apple slices, fruit roll ups, pencils, ribbons, fruit snacks, popsicles, red juice boxes…

Thank You Parents for attending Vista’s Student Showcase

Vista Student Showcase night was a success, over 200 parents and students attended this parent night to view their child's projects and progress. Girl and Boy scout representatives were on hand for sign-ups and Dance Trax was available for information. Thank you to all for the support of our neighborhood school.

Rez Life

Rez Life helped Vista learn about Mohave song and dance on Indigenous People Day. Students were completely silent as they listened to the melodic rhythm of the singing voices and the shaking of the gourds.

Vista Needs Volunteers

There is an informational meeting for volunteers in the multipurpose room on September 26th from 5:00-6:00pm. There will be volunteer packets available and information about the opportunities for our community to get involved with our neighborhood school.

Bully Prevention Classes

Officer Mursick and Mrs. Armijo have visited classrooms talking about bullying behaviors. Vista is gearing up for Bully Prevention month in October and educating students about TELLING an adult if they are encountering bully behavior.

Fourth Grade visits the Kingman Fair

Fourth grades worked hard on art projects that they entered into the Mohave County Fair. Today, the fourth graders traveled to Kingman to see their projects on display. Many projects earned ribbons. Students were also able to view various animals and enjoy the atmosphere of the county fair.
